As if Queen announcing their upcoming tour wasn't big enough news, the band has revealed plans for a new album. The best part? It will feature unreleased Freddie Mercury songs!

Brian May tells BBC Wales the disc is a compilation, including songs they built from old recordings of their late frontman Freddie Mercury that "nobody in the world has ever heard."  He explains that they "had to start from scratch" because they "only had scraps," but "with modern technology" they were able to complete the songs.

May says most of the material is from the 1980s, when the band was "in full flight."  He adds that the album is "quite emotional," and features "the big, big ballads and the big, big epic sound."  He says, he believes "people will really enjoy" the group's upcoming album.

Brian doesn't offer a release date, but says the album, which has the tentative title of "Queen Forever," will likely arrive at the end of the year.

Queen will be hitting the road with Adam Lambert next month.  They'll launch their North American arena tour in Chicago on June 19th, and play festivals in South Korea and Japan before kicking off an Australian tour in Perth on August 22nd.  It'll be Queen's first Australian trek since 1985.
